what I want to accomplish:
Student agency and advocacy: students are more engaged when they get to be more involved. Let’s get kids engaged in the running of their schools and communities!
Culturally-Responsive Teaching Model: brings students’ experiences of culture and community into the classroom, helping vulnerable students in particular see themselves and their communities belonging in school and academic spaces.
More robust sexual health and education: statistics back up the reality that kids make better, safer long-term choices when given accurate, science-based information. Our current program is a good start but could be more inclusive.
Representation matters! Jordan is an out trans/queer person who is known in the community. LGBTQ kids should see someone like them in positions of authority, and it’s important for them to have people who can understand their specific needs on school board. Currently there are no out queer people filling these roles, and in our current political environment, it’s critical we ensure a safe environment for underrepresented students.
And so much more! Contact me to discuss what you want out of our school system so we can work together.
