Pluto (Mr. Mayor)

The newest addition to the Zipser family, Pluto, moved into the home after being known as a neighborhood outside cat for nearly a decade. He used to travel from home to home, soliciting pets and treats, earning him the family nickname “Mr. Mayor” as he became known for soliciting bribes and funds from his local constituents.

When his health needs became too dire last December, his former family asked us to take over his care. It soon became clear that his biggest health concern is diabetes, necessitating a twice-daily shot and a switch to a fully-indoor lifestyle.

Favorite treat: Pluto is a classic kitty - he loves canned tuna and soft cat treats. He comes running when he hears the bag!

Man of many names: Although his given name is Pluto and we took to calling him Mr. Mayor, the kids sometimes call him Plut-Plut, Plutey, or other cutesy names. The adults have sometimes called him Murtaugh because he is clearly “too old for this shit”.

Playtime isn’t just for kittens! Despite being a senior cat, now that he’s healthier, one of Pluto’s favorite ways to connect with his people is through play! He loves to play with feathery toys and ribbons.
